Stainless Steel Eye Bolts — Lifting & Rigging Eye Bolts

A stainless steel eye bolt threads into a structure and gives you a ring to lift from or tie off to. The eye carries the load; the shank holds it in place.

The stainless steel eye bolt range comes in four build tiers: wire-formed types, forged shoulder and plain types, cast machinery types, and a metric series. Load-rated sizes use 316 non-magnetic stainless steel and meet ASME B30.26-2010 Section 26-2.0, running from 1/4" to 1" with working loads of 500 to 9,370 lb.

Product Features

  • Light duty to heavy duty in one line. Wire-formed sizes run 3/16" to 3/4" at 100–2,000 lb; forged load-rated sizes run 1/4" to 1" at 500–9,370 lb; a metric series covers M6 to M24.
  • Load-rated to a recognised standard. Shoulder and plain eye bolts are forged in 316-NM and built to ASME B30.26-2010 Section 26-2.0.
  • Stamped for inspection. Load-rated stainless steel eye bolts carry forged markings for grade, size and working load in tons.
  • Machined for a snug fit. The shank and the underside of the shoulder are machined so the bolt seats square when tightened.
  • Supplied ready to fit. One nut and one washer come with each eye bolt, with extras available from stock.
  • Clear safety basis. Ultimate load is five times the working load. A straight, inline pull is what the rating assumes.
  • Large sizes on request. Hot-dip galvanised drop-forged eye bolts reach 1-1/2" and 24,000 lb.

Applications

  • Lifting and rigging. A lift point for slings and shackles, from light-duty to heavy-duty work.
  • Marine and boat fitting. Bow and stern eyes and deck tie-down points.
  • Concrete and precast lifting. Edge lifting in shear, using cast-in lifting eyes.
  • Outdoor and marine structures. Fixed attachment points that sit in salt spray and damp.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much can a 1/2" shoulder eye bolt hold?
2,150 lb working load, in the forged 316-NM shoulder range.

Can an eye bolt take a side pull?
The rating assumes a straight, inline pull. Any angle needs a reduction, so check the derating table for the job.

What is the safety factor?
Ultimate load is five times the working load.

What is the difference between a shoulder eye bolt and a plain eye bolt?
A shoulder type passes load through a machined shoulder face, so it seats more firmly. A plain type has a simpler shape for tighter spaces.
